How to create a QR code
Copy the Wi-Fi name exactly, including spaces and capital letters.
Match your router’s security and enter the password. Mark hidden networks when needed.
Test with a phone that is not already connected, then share or print the QR for guests.
Put it to use
Help guests join your wireless network by scanning a Wi-Fi QR code. Enter the exact network name, security type and password to create a connection card for your home, café or guest room.
25 ways to share
Choose the right tool for your next QR. Each has its own fields, examples and sharing tips.
Before you share
No. Your network name and password are encoded in your browser. The image contains the password, so anyone who receives it can decode those details.
The image has no expiry. It will stop connecting people when you change the network name, security settings, or password. Generate and print a new QR after those changes.
Connection prompts depend on the phone’s camera and Wi-Fi support. Scan-test on the devices your guests use. This generator supports WPA/WPA2, WEP, and open networks; enterprise Wi-Fi login is not supported.
The most common causes are a network name typed with different capitalisation than the router broadcasts, the wrong security type selected, or a password that has changed since printing. Enterprise networks that ask for an individual username cannot be encoded in this format at all.
